Rosary for Bidal Aguero, 60, of Lubbock will be at 7:00 p.m.,today at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church with Msgr. Curtis Hoffman officiating and Father Jim O'Connor assisting. Cremation arrangements will follow under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock.
He died November 3, 2009 in Lubbock. He was born on July 23, 1949 in Lubbock to the late Ignacio and Eulalia Aguero. He married Olga Riojas on October 17, 1988 in Lubbock. He was a lifelong resident of Lubbock. He was a Catholic. Bidal graduated from Texas Tech University in 1972 with a Bachelors degree in music. He received his Masters degree in music in 1974 from the University of Wisconsin. He was an accomplished and well respected civic leader, serving in many capacities during his life. In 1967 to 72 he was a Student Activist –“Las Tortulianos” at Texas Tech University, in 1968 he served as Lubbock County Chair of the Mexican American Youth Organization, in1969 he served as Raza Unida Party-Lubbock County,1970 and 1972 Organizer for West Texas in the Ramsey Muniz for Governor Campaign, in 1973 discussions of COMA began with a small group of businessmen and women and Bidal lead the group. In 1974 he expressed the need to incorporate COMA and began writing Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation which was completed in July and he was named Interim President.
