OBITUARY: ROSA M. GONZALEZ

Rosa Margarita Gonzalez of Victorville, California, and formerly of Amarillo and Lubbock, entered into Eternal Life on Saturday April 24, 2010 at the age of 62. Dr. Gonzalez was born in Amarillo, Texas on January 18, 1948 to parents Bernardino and Joaquina Gonzalez; both who preceded her in death.

Dr. Gonzalez’s life was marked by her achievements in the field of education and she dedicated her life to the many students whose lives she touched along the way. She graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 1973; received her Masters of Education from the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater, Wisconsin in 1974; and her Doctorate from the University of California at Riverside, California in 1997. She worked for LEARN Educational Talent Search here in Lubbock, taught school in the Lubbock Independent School District, taught at Cal State University in San Bernardino, CA. and was presently the Principal at the New Vision Middle School in San Bernardino, CA.

In addition to her many accomplishments in life, Dr. Gonzalez was also a devoted mother and grandmother and lifelong Cursillista, and a person who held steadfast to her Catholic Faith.

Her husband Daniel Gonzalez preceded her in death in January of 2006 as did her sister Refugia de Maria Renteria in 2008.

Services were held in Colton, CA. on Friday April 30, 2010.

Survivors include two daughters Margie Land and husband Eric and grandchildren Katrina and Jacob of Victorville, CA. Gracie Delmar and husband Kevin and future grandchild of Carlsbad, CA.

Brothers: Ignacio Gonzalez, Msgr. Antonio Gonzalez, Bernie Gonzalez, Dr. Juan Gonzalez; sisters: Mercy Sister Elena Gonzalez, Esperanza Perez, and Guadalupe Alderete.
