In what was clearly the closest for or against race; the proposed Lubbock Independent School District’s $198 million bond package barely passed.
Proponents had marketed the package on the basis that the school tax rate would not go up to pay the debt. Apparently, a high number of voters did not buy that sales pitch and voted against the bond package.
But in the end supporters had enough votes as the final count was 51% for and 49% against.
Sadly, only a little over 32,000 voters cast a vote in this particular election.
